Effect of Growth Retardants Alar and Meia on Peroxidase and Iaa-oxidase Activity in Stems of Tobacco Seedlings

چکیده
Plant growth retardants Alar (dimethylhydrazide of succinic acid) and its structural analogue MEIA (β-monomethyl ester of itaconic acid) at a concentration 2000mg/l sprayed at the fourth true leaf stage of tobacco seedlings caused identical retardation in stem growth from the second till the tenth day after treatment. Soluble peroxidase activity in stems of the treated plants increased on the second day after treatment and remained the same until the end of the investigated period. IAA-oxidase activity also increased on the second day after treatment, but later dropped slowly and reached the control level. Alar and MEIA did not influence peroxidase and IAA-oxidase activity in vitro. From the second day till the end of the investigated period an increase in total phenols and in the level of chlorogenic acid in the stems of the treated plants was also observed. The increase of IAAoxidase activity post treatment with growth retardants Alar and MEIA probably took part in the regulation of stem growth of tobacco seedlings. The regulation of enzyme activity might not be direct and could be due to the participation of phenol compounds.

The effects of magnetic fields on growth and enzyme activities of Helianthus annuus L. seedlings. Maryam Peyvandi*, Neda Kazemi Khaledi, Sedighe Arbabian
In recent years, many research studies have been conducted on the effects of magnetic field on plants. But certain mechanisms regarding magnetic influences have not been defined yet. In this study, effects of magnetic fields (MF) on the growth parameters and enzyme activities of Helianthus annuus L. were investigated. Sterilized seeds in sterile conditions were exposed to 0, 0.5, 1 and 1.5 mT o...
متن کاملPeroxide Levels and the Activities of Catalase, Peroxidase, and Indoleacetic Acid Oxidase during and after Chilling Cucumber Seedlings.
The activities of catalase, peroxidase, indoleacetic acid (IAA) oxidase and peroxide levels in cucumber plants during and after chilling were determined. During 96 hours at 5 C and 85% relative humidity, catalase activity declined, IAA oxidase activity increased, and peroxide concentrations increased. Peroxidase activity was not affected by chilling. When chilled plants were returned to 25 C to...
متن کاملThe Effect of Pseudomonas putida Colonization on Root Surface Peroxidase.
Increased activities of peroxidase and indole 3-acetic acid (IAA) oxidase were detected on root surfaces of bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) seedlings colonized with a soil saprophytic bacterium, Pseudomonas putida. IAA oxidase activity increased over 250-fold and peroxidase 8-fold. Enhancement was greater for 6-day-old than for 4- or 8-day-old inoculated plants No IAA oxidase or peroxidase activities...

Ultraviolet radiation divides to three bands UV-A (320-390 nm), UV-B (280-320 nm) and UV-C (254-280 nm). Different bands of ultraviolet radiation have different effects on growth, physiological and biochemical plants. In this research the effect of different bands of UV radiation on the shoot and root length, quantity of flavonoids, anthocyanine, protein, ethylene, peroxidase and polyphenol o...
